Common Analytics Challenges Tableau Next Can Solve

Most teams have data, dashboards, and reporting tools, but struggle to get reliable answers, identify problems early, and turn insights into action.

  • 01

Too many dashboards with conflicting numbers and no single source of truth.

  • 02

Risks and opportunities are identified too late to make a difference.

  • 03

Analysts spend too much time on manual reports and last-minute data requests.

  • 04

Marketing, sales, and finance data are spread across disconnected systems.

  • 05

AI tools give unreliable answers because of poor data quality and inconsistent metrics.

  • 06

Insights remain stuck in dashboards instead of driving action across Salesforce, Slack, and other business tools.

Frequently Asked Questions

We already have Tableau Pulse and Tableau Agent. How is Tableau Next different?

Pulse and Tableau Agent add AI features to your existing Tableau environment: Pulse sends metric summaries, and Tableau Agent helps analysts explore and build. Tableau Next is a separate platform built natively on Salesforce. It has its own semantic layer and runs on Data Cloud. Its agents don't just answer questions; they can trigger actions in Salesforce workflows.

Can we reuse our existing Tableau workbooks?

Not with a single click. Tableau Next is built around Tableau Semantics and Data Cloud, so your most important data models and metric definitions are usually rebuilt there. That rebuild is a good chance to fix inconsistent definitions. We review your current workbooks, prioritize the ones that drive most decisions, and leave the rest running on Tableau Cloud or Server.

Our data lives in Snowflake or Databricks. Do we have to copy it into Data Cloud?

Not necessarily. Data Cloud supports zero-copy integration with warehouses such as Snowflake, Databricks, BigQuery and Redshift, so data can be queried where it already lives. We help you decide what to access in place and what to bring into Data Cloud, based on performance, cost and how each data set will be used.

What will it cost beyond your implementation fees?

Plan for three Salesforce costs: Tableau+ licensing, Data Cloud consumption credits, and usage for any Agentforce actions you switch on. These vary by contract, so confirm them with your Salesforce account team. During the readiness assessment we estimate consumption for your use cases, so you aren't surprised later.

What makes a good first use case?

Look for a question your leaders ask every week, that's answered slowly today, and that leads to a clear action. Pipeline risk, campaign performance and service SLA breaches are common starting points. It helps if the data is already in Salesforce or one warehouse, so you see results quickly while the wider foundation is built.

Can agents take action without a person approving it?

Only if you allow it. You decide which actions agents can take on their own, which need human approval, and which are off-limits. Most clients start with agents that flag issues and suggest next steps, then add automated actions once they trust the answers. Everything runs under the same Salesforce permissions as your users.
